Report: Russia ready to partake in economic projects in Afghanistan
MOSCOW, Nov 22 (PRIME) -- Moscow is ready to participate in economic projects in Afghanistan on a commercial basis, but the key interest is political stability, Russian presidential envoy to Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov said late on November 19 in an interview broadcast by Rossiya 24 television channel.
“You shouldn’t consider these words as pompous, but we need the powers there to be independent, self-sufficient, and friendly toward Russia to a certain extent. … We are ready to participate in an array of projects there, mainly on a commercial basis,” he said.
The possible projects include cooperation in construction of a gas pipeline, a railway, and power infrastructure for the railway, he said.
